How does the Sunbeam sound like?

I love Hi-Beams and nickel Lo-Riders. Compared with Lo-Riders, how would you describe the tone of Sunbeams? Of course, I'd need to buy a set to hear the tone but I want to get some idea.

Sunbeams are nickel, so they'll sound closer to the nickel lo-riders, obviously, but in my experience I've found them to be one of the warmer/darker sounding nickel roundwound strings. From what I remember, the nickel Lo-riders were a little bit brighter. String tension is comparable to Hi-beams as well, as opposed to the higher tension of Lo-riders. Honestly I need to pick up another set of these, as I recall really liking them. A few years ago I was using them to warm up a Stingray, and they did the job quite nicely.

Sounds like what my P wants. It currently has SS Lo-Riders and I'd love to make the P sound mellower.

That pretty well sums it up. Very nice sounding with lots of mids and with very low tension. They remind me of Dunlop nickels.

Sunbeams have more prominent mids, less low end than nickel Lo-Riders. Either set will will warm up a P nicely compared to SS Lo-Riders. If you prefer the tension of Hi-Beams, get the Sunbeams.

If your looking for a set to calm down an aggressive bass Sunbeams are great. Very different feel than lo-riders, softer, less tension.
