How to get this sound?

Sign in to disble this ad
My only bass to this point has been a Thunderbird strung with DR Lo-Riders. It has a real growl and punch to it.

I've just gotten a J-bass and I want this bass to have a much smoother, warmer "rounded" sound. The bass has Nordstrand pickups with an Audere pre-amp. Am i looking at Flats to try and get that big rounded warm sound? I don't want anything too thumpy in the bass, or bright in the top. I want a nice tight spectrum.

Any ideas?

Sadowsky flats? They work for me on a Jazz.

TI flats have a nice, even tonal spectrum. They sit very nicely in the mix...
