Probably longer, and in fact that bass might just still have that set of strings on it.

BTW, you could drop the preposition at the end of your sentence.

| | | | My friends inherited his g'pa's '63 P-bass which had the same flats on it since around '78 I think he said. They're still on there now, and I played it about a month ago and holy crap, they are amazing. My oldest bass with flats is 12 years old. It's a 96 Squier P, another friend bought it off me, it has the same flats since it was purchased with still on it.
