How long is long?

I have a 34" scale bass, inline 4 tuners, and string through body design. Do I need long or extra long? I can't seem to fing an actual length.

34" is long scale. Depending on how far from the nut your machine heads are, you can use extra long no problem. I prefer the look of the extra long strings on my Rickenbacker (33 1/4" scale). As long as you aren't wrapping a bunch of the finished diameter of the string around the peg, your fine. (Too long is much better than not long enough!)

Cool. Thanks for the reply. The main reason I was asking is that the extra longs I want don't come in a gauge that I like. I will buy the longs and see what happens.
