I'm ashamed to say, but its definitely in the triple digits.

I wish I could return strings that didn't work for me.

sell the ones you don't like here on tb. what you don't like, someone else probably does, especially if the strings are still new-ish and cheap.

luckily I found some I was comfortable with after trying 4 different sets and decided to leave well enough alone.

Im talking about roundwound here mind you, I am just getting started with flats so who knows what will happen with that.

I have tried most of the good strings out there and can put up with most of them.

The only strings I have absolutely hated and took off right away were a set of Dean Markleys and a set of "halfrounds". The halfrounds were terrible feeling and drove me drazy. Kinda a nails on a chalkboard thing.

I don't think I've ever wasted money on strings. My string-buying process is normally this:

1) Install flats (usually Labella Deep Talkin' flats, sometimes Rotos)

2) Play them forever unless one breaks

The exceptions: I have a MIM Jazz that came with the factory rounds - they're 8 years old and I've never changed them. I have an Epi EB-0 that's about two years old and still has the factory rounds.

+1

I put TI Jazz Flats on my P-Bass around 2 and half years ago, and I don't plan on changing them anytime soon.

+1 on the TI's. I've heard of people having them on for up to ten years still keeping their tone. You cant say there's not a good saving of money there.
