I've been switching back and forth between d'addario prosteels and dr hi beams for six months or so, and I change them about once a month. I play my bass about 12 hours a week. How often you you change your strings? |

I have 5 basses, two with flats, three with rounds. I change my rounds every 6 months or so, depending on use and funds! My flats never, the dirt keeps the funk .

Flats-Never.
Roundwounds- 6 months to a year.
Depending on string (Brand)
Strings need time to bread in, and mellow out? |

Rounds, not usually for a while since I use DR's, but once they get a little rusty and what not I'll slap a new set on.

The next three months has me playing mainly upright, so that will last longer. During the summer when I'm gigging every night (and fitting in rehearsals), every two weeks. |

| | | Im running rotosounds on my fretless and theyve lost nothing but the stickyish coating it had out of the box. Still sound awesome! Ive had them on since the summer and until something drastic happens I dont think Ill take them off : : |

| | | | Matters though, I change my strings twice a year on my main basses. But my other ones that I don't play as much or at all, eh. very rare. |

ROunds on my Birdsong: 6-8 months... Longer than that and i miss the snap... BTW: Scott puts Curt Mangan nickel rounds on the Birdsongs, and I love the sound, so I have stuck with em. A bonus is they are only $20 a set... not bad.
