How to quickly mellow a zingy G string of Lo-Riders?

Sign in to disble this ad
I strung my Lakland DJ with a set of stainless steel Lo-Rider about 2 months ago and the G string still sounds too zingy. I've adjusted the EQ to compensate, but the G string still sounds too bright.

IME, the G string of Hi-Beams ages rather quickly, producing a nice, fat tone.

So, my question is, "Is there a trick to quickly mellow such a bright sounding G string?" Can I apply some wax?

Take it on and off the bass a couple times.
