As people have said - you are simply misunderstanding the way strings work on bass.

Are your strings tuned to pitch? If so, that's as tight as they are going to get without changing to a different set.

If you are downtuning significantly then that may be another explanation...?

It may also be that you are just feeling that the strings are worn out - again though - simply restringing won't change anything - you just need new strings!

yeah, sorry for posting such a stupid topic-i should really think before i post in future, i understand the way strings work, im used to it by now, but doesnt mean im any good at keeping my mouth shut!
