Hungry rounds

Sign in to disble this ad
I picked up a fretless recently and I love the tone Im getting out of it with the generic round wounds on it. Its really gritty and dirty, but with a lot of cool harmonics. Anyways, the rounds sound amazing, but they are totally destroying my fingerboard. I expect some wear on a fretless, but Im concerned that it may be too much.

Ive done a search, and Im considering the following to replace them:

GHS Brite Flats
D'Addario Half Rounds
D'Addario EXP Coated Nickle
Black Beauties

Anyone have any expirence with these on a fretless and have any idea if they can give me a sound close to what these cheapy generic rounds are doing without totally gobbling up my fingerboard?
