If you like slinkys is good choice though I like the regular slinky gauges better. Theres no such thing as best strings for a bass. Just strings you like better for yourself and your basses.

Hybrid Slinkys are a pretty common gauged set...

Ernie Balls die pretty quickly, so keep that in mind.

Yes they are, I just liked the 45-100 gauage little better. But really the hybred is your reg most common gauges set. So it does seem little odd calling them hybred.

I did also find ernie balls nice for basses that wanted a little more crunch or growl to their tone.

D'Addario (who at least USED to make Ernie Ball strings going back to at least 1976) uses 45/65/80/100 for their light strings, and 50/60/85/105 for their regular or medium gauges. They're consistent with 0.020" difference between the G/D and the A/E with 0.015 between the D and A. Ernie Ball strings use those same gauges for their standard sets across the board. So, when D'Addario started marketing their XL-165 set with 45/65/85/10 and a consistent 0.020" increment between strings, Ernie Balls' version was the "Hybrid" set. It's a hybrid of the first two strings from the light (Super Slinky) set and the last two strings from the medium (Regular Slinky) set.

How many times are you going to ask essentially the same question?
