Question hypertension

Sign in to disble this ad
no i'm not adding to my BPressure issue with bass strings however i'm calling on those that know(so here goes>

anybody have a definitive rating on flatwound strings tuned to S standard,i just donk around, jam with whoever,i've been thru a half dozen basses since Dec.,,,c's list, ebay, neighbors haul em in,buy at hock shops,i've hung a set of `chromes' i have on most all of em,had one come in that had some roundwounds i truly liked and left those on that one(for the month i owned it),tried Roto `Steve Harris',,and am currently practicing with some Fender flat(gee forgive me forgot the PN but they are the 55/105's),,and i love those!,intended to order som SIT PowerFlats but never did

this morning before work i searched for Thomastic Infeld online then came here and searched out`tension' thru the various threads, doesn't seem to me there's a consise consensus as to whitch string is tighter(or more tense per se) by perusing the posts; one guy sez the `TI's are stiffer than La Bellas and 3 posts later someone else cancels his post, one guy sez the SHaris are great the next guy sez he has to bottom out his truss rod and his neck is bowed

so yeah, maybe this sounds confusing but not near as much as i'm confused(or in other words and to cut the crap)=what stinkin' set of flatties is the softest tuned UP to Standard!,,,,gee i could have done this with one line,,definitive here please not`me' my or i did this one time i'd like to hear from those that have tried various sets of flats and can comment with authority, yes, authority!

+1 Doesn't really get any "softer" than this.

I love the Sadowsky flats, but I would hardly call them low tension.

Whoever told you that TIs have more tension than LaBellas is crazy. The TI flats are about as low tension as you can get on bass strings.

OP, it's easy to get Tension & Stiffness (or it's synonyms) confused. Tension's a measurement of how much force a string pulls (like from bridge to tuner) while Stiffness is a subjective 'feel' thing (factors well discussed in numerous threads).

ok i'm happy now but

looking at the TI site i will now look for`jazz' flats(didn't see any mention of`flat' yesterday?),but i'm always ina hurry and computers not up to snuff today

the reason i want softer is due to moisture/humidity and tuning to Standard tuning CAN be tough on a moist peice of lumber(it's where i play at=in an autobody shop in rainy Oregon),,ah yes i can feel the neck(s) absorbing moisture in one evening jam session, bring a bass home, lay it out(of the gig-bag) on my bed and watch em sweat

thanks folks

Jazz Flats are TI's only flats.
