Hi All,
I've read a few posts about Roto's getting a bad rap. But I still can't get over how great they sound. I've been using them since I was about 16 after seeing some ads for Geddy(My Hero) Lee using Superwound Funkamasters. Every once in a while I change my brand of strings just to check things out. My last "tasting" was GHS Boomers which I used a long time ago. But now I'm back to Roto's...proudly!

I heard great things and some of my bass heros used them so I figured why not. They were bright (which I liked) but they died very quickly (I put them on around Christmastime and changed them in January).

I think the flats I have on my fretless are about 2 years old and sound great. |

Great strings, I use them on my Tokai P for our pop/punk cover band, where that clank gives some extra definition in the live mix with two guitars, and nails the recorded bass tones on a lot of the UK stuff we do. |

I use Ric strings on my 4003, but Roto jazz flats on my 4001, and my 5 string is set up with Roto swing rounds. They have a very snappy sound, and feel very responsive to my playing. Who cares if they get bashed now and again, different strokes, afterall. |

I'm skeptical about whether any steel string will wear frets faster than any other steel string. They lose their intense zing quickly, but to my ears stay sounding good after that for a long time.
