I could use some advice.
I’m wondering if someone could recommend some strings for me?
I currently have Dunlop 50,70,90,110 nickel plated roundwound strings on my Fender American Deluxe P Bass but they feel small and weak which probably has a lot to do with the strings I have on my practice bass – an Ibanez Gio which has Roto RS77LE 50,75,95,110 flatwounds on which are much more to my liking but perhaps a little too rigid but only a little.
I normally play Heavy rock to all kinds of metal and 90% with my fingers and like a medium low action.
So I was wondering if anyone could recommend some strings for me?
Maybe a smaller gauge of those Rotosound flats? They will have the same feel just a little less tight.
That's certainly an option but I'm afraid that they will feel small like the roundwounds.
But it does seem like the way to go.
How 'bout 45, 60, 80, 105 flatwounds? They produce almost equal tension across the board. I use 60, 80, 105, 130 on my BEAD tuned Ibby. In my case it concerns Ernie Ball flats, purchased as singles. I love that tension while banging out some serious rock, metal and blues.
Thanks, I'll have a look at those.
Currently I'm looking at D'Addario ECB82 XL Chromes Medium at 50,70,85,105 but it might be more sensible to stick with the Roto 77's but get the 45,65,85,105 set.
