[quote=TheEmptyCell]I love Prosteels. I ranted and raved for weeks when I got mine... I had tried some La Bella steels, and well... I had to happy for the disgusting price I paid for a 4 string set plus a high C and low B from juststrings.com (I'll never buy from them again, terrible customer service).

I have bought strings from juststrings.com for a couple years now and never had a problem. I get the stings in a couple of days and have found their price and service the best.

I tried prosteels on my jazz a few days ago, didn't like them very much...but I use a strange string setup.

I have EB slinky's for my E and A string, and TI jazz flats for my D and G strings. Anyone that plays my bass laughs at me for it.

Well, sorry that this has nothing to do w/the Prosteels, but I can relate to this string setup. The Jazz Flats are so sweet up high, and the twangy guitar tones you get out of roundwounds up high are what turns me off of them. The roundwounds down low add that life to the grindy lows, though.

I'd be really worried about the fact that the low end of the neck is relatively high tension while the TI end is so low in tension. Seems to me like you are risking a warped neck here.

Yeah, I am at a small risk of a warped neck. But my local "tech" (i.e. neighbor that's been playing longer than me) says it's a small risk, so I'm not really worried about it.

It is just an SX after all.

If it warps because of strings, I'd be very surprised. They ARE built to take the load of strings.

I'd found THE STRING in the old Prisms, and was so p*ssed when I heard they were discontinued that I sent off a "strongly worded" e-mail to D'addario ("strongly worded" adult-like, as "You're going to loose a customer because of this", not "l33tly worded" like "im made and wil ne7er us3 u aga!n" ) I actually got a quick reply from their Senior Marketing Manager who offered to send me a set gratis if only "to see what you hear to be the difference between Prisms and ProSteels."

Within a week I received a box containing a five-string set, a t-shirt, and one of their promo CDs. I strung a bass up, and needless to say I was right - they weren't as good as Prisms.

They were better. Perhaps only by degrees, but I find them a bit tighter in the low-mids, a bit more "chime" on the high-end, and even longer lasting. I quickly sent a "swallowing my pride" e-mail back, and instead of throwing it in my face he thanks me for the comments and that they were able to keep me as a customer.

I use D'addarios exclusively, ProSteels on fretted, XLs on fretless, the occasional Chromes for the traditional flat sound, and might try EXPs one of these days to see how they compare to Elixirs for my fretless. I do so primarily because they contribute to "my" sound, but also because of their care for quality CS and QC as seen above. They haven't endorsed me (...yet ) but I happily endorse them.
