For the bass i play with, Fender Aerodyne jazz bass, I actually don't like the Ernie ball cobalts that much. For the price and with the bass i'm using i expected a lot more than i got. For some reason when i'm practicing they don't stand out in the mix at all compaired to my previous strings.

I think i'm going to go back to Ernie Ball Super Slinky 2834 Nickel Bass Guitar Strings. At the moment they seem to be the strings for me.

Jazz basses are really mid heavy so the Cobalts may make a jazz lose low end. When I switched from Dunlops to Cobalts I noticed I went from thick lows to focused mids. Had to re-eq my amp.

Picking back up on my thoughts on these strings. I'm still blown away. I play at least two hours a day and have played 4, 3 hour long hot sweaty gigs with these bad boys and they still have new string zing! I think I've found a lifetime companion.

I love the cobalts. I've used pretty much any brand and style of string over the last 17 years of playing and of course when these came out I had to try them. I play a '76 Gibson Ripper and they really work well with the super humbuckers. The Attack is what sold me. I also just recently picked up a '97 Fender P-bass and put a set on that as well. Once again the attack is great. They seem to be a little rough on the fingers until you get used to them and I'm sure like a lot of people have said they are probably a little harsh on the frets but I'm into them. It's really what kind of sound you are trying to achieve. I play mostly rock and these strings have that midrangey bassey punch I've been looking for. Also if you use any kind of distortion or overdrive they really bring that out as well.

I agree with everything except the roughness. I think they're a little softer than most Stainless's I've tried. Maybe it's just me?
