So I've had a set of Hi-Beams on my sr505 for a while, and didn't quite like the sound, seemed a little "tinny" to me and the B string made some weird buzzing feedback noise if I hit it the wrong way. The mids didn't seem to good on the Hi-Beams either as I always had to boost the mids quite a bit on the amp/pre-amp.
So I had the intention of going to Guitar Center to find some EB Slinky's for 5 string (i love the sound on my 4), but GC didn't have them. So I picked up the Lo-Riders after hearing much praise from them. (.45 .65 .85 .105 .130 -- the Hi-Beams had a .125 B)
so after restringing, and plugging in. All I can say is wow!
I don't even need to boost mids to get my sound!
And since these Lo-Riders have these hex-cores, i really do notice a tension difference throughout all strings - most notably the B string of course.
Too bad parents are sleeping, otherwise I'd crank it up and jam!
Well thanks for reading my little ramble... I'm just excited to "find my sound" as I'm sure many of you have found out before!
