Question I need a few suggestions for strings

Sign in to disble this ad
Im buying a 6 string fretless and im looking for strings that have a nice fat warm sound that i can still get a nice slap tone out of. I was thinking a nice set of light gauge flats, ive only tried flats once, i liked the tone but the "stickiness" of the strings annoyed the hell out of me but id be willing to compensate but would prefer a type that flow more easily. i also have another 6 string that i want a really crisp slap tone with plenty of that slap twang, the ones that came on it sounded nice but i play hard and they lost their crispness very quickly so im looking for longevity too. (personal prefrences are fine i just need ideas that i can look into and experiment with)

You can go in the middle of the road... Compression / Pressure wound strings... Great on a fretless or fretted. less finger noise, smooth and fast string. can slap with them no problem.

I slap in the middle of this vid on my 6 string fretless... its has Ken Smith Slap Masters on it... YouTube - ‪Ken Smith BSR6EG Fretless Bass Electronics Overview Sound Samples‬‏ a bit brighter than compression / pressure wounds, but hey, posting the vid is fun ;D
