I have a Fender Mustang that I play mostly with a pick. Looking to get some strings that will bring out the thump... Preferably low to medium low tension....I'm thinking flats, any recommendations?

GHS Precision Flats have thump and a nice tension. Not too expensive either.

rotosound tru bass 88 are a little expensive but they r the lowest bass strings ever plus they r tapewound so ur pick will give less twang than usual givin u a seriously heavy sound

You really want the GHS Precisions. I have a modded out Squier Bronco strung with them, and when I want that vintage flatwound thump, it's my go to bass., sounds just like a Mustang w/flats

I have these on mine. Any more "thump" would be illegal.

Labella Deep Talkin' flats...and lose the pick!

Fingerstyle thumps better IMO.

For what it's worth, I really love the flats I got from www.webstrings.com. Everybody that I play with loves the sound of them, and I've gotten many compliments from people who've heard me play. They're American made...by whom? Not a clue. However, they're great sounding, and they're very affordable.

I have the La Bella 49-109 set on my short scale bass that takes medium scale strings. The heavier gauge helps the thump, and on a short scale bass, the tension isn't as bad.
