What's the difference between hex and roundcore? In tension?
Hex core will be stiffer.

I use RotoSound ground round nickel on my PBass. I think they're called Tru Bass. They seem to have a nice treble end to them but are smoother on the fingers and don't chew up the frets as fast.

How do you like the tension on the nickel SIT rock brights. Are they like the stainless steel sets? I like high tension strings but I can't use stainless any more.

Honestly, I have noticed that they have more or less tension than SS sets I have had before. I have a 35" scale bass and all I can say about the tension is I like it. The B is not floppy nor do I notice it is really taught either.

Sorry I can't be of more help...

Thanks a lot. I think I'll order some SunBeams.

+1 for the Fender 7150's

I used the 7250's for a while then switched to some D'A... nickel plated somethings (sorry can't remember the model) no big whoop. Then I tried the Fender all nickel 7150 ML's and have really been digging the sound of these strings. Great old school tone and feel, but still enough snap to handle all needs.

enjoy!

Hmm, maybe I'll give them a try.

DR Sunbeams rule. They get my vote.

No love for Ernie Ball Hybrid Slinkies? I've been using those for a long time. They last quite a while (months for me) and the tension is perfect.

Although I haven't tried the DR Sunbeams, I'm sure I'd like those as well.

Pure Nickel! They are the most pecussive rounds out there. They can be bright when you need them to be or mellow when you need them to be. They sound great after about two weeks and they break in nicely. I wish they had five string versions more available. You have to go thru hell and hi water to get a 7150 B string. When I get my next ATK, the Blue 700 series im putting 7150's on it.

I've actually found that the pure Fender nickels seem to start off life a bit brighter than the 7250's, and 7350 stainless steels. Not a bad thing though, because you can have that brightness if and when you need it. The 7150's are great strings-next time I buy Fender strings, I'm going back to those too (using the 7250's now, a good string itself IMHO.)

I really like the 7250, very good sound from a "stock" string...

+1.

I try different brands of strings from time to time, but I always go back to D'Addario XL's. IMO they're reasonably priced and have a great sound and feel.

I'm cursed with "acid hands" so regardless of brand or price, for me a set of strings will last about a month.

I hear ya' brother! I can usually get about 3 months out of a set of roundwounds, but lately I've sweated into a set so bad, I cut about a month off of that-and thats with using a string cleaner while cleaning the entire bass afterwards.
