What's the difference between hex and roundcore? In tension? | Hex core will be stiffer. |

I have a 35" scale bass and all I can say about the tension is I like it. The B is not floppy nor do I notice it is really taught either.
Sorry I can't be of more help...

I used the 7250's for a while then switched to some D'A... nickel plated somethings (sorry can't remember the model) no big whoop. Then I tried the Fender all nickel 7150 ML's and have really been digging the sound of these strings. Great old school tone and feel, but still enough snap to handle all needs.
enjoy!

Although I haven't tried the DR Sunbeams, I'm sure I'd like those as well. |

enjoy! | Pure Nickel! They are the most pecussive rounds out there. They can be bright when you need them to be or mellow when you need them to be. They sound great after about two weeks and they break in nicely. I wish they had five string versions more available. You have to go thru hell and hi water to get a 7150 B string. When I get my next ATK, the Blue 700 series im putting 7150's on it. |

I've actually found that the pure Fender nickels seem to start off life a bit brighter than the 7250's, and 7350 stainless steels. Not a bad thing though, because you can have that brightness if and when you need it. The 7150's are great strings-next time I buy Fender strings, I'm going back to those too (using the 7250's now, a good string itself IMHO.) |

I try different brands of strings from time to time, but I always go back to D'Addario XL's. IMO they're reasonably priced and have a great sound and feel.
I'm cursed with "acid hands" so regardless of brand or price, for me a set of strings will last about a month. |

I can usually get about 3 months out of a set of roundwounds, but lately I've sweated into a set so bad, I cut about a month off of that-and thats with using a string cleaner while cleaning the entire bass afterwards. | | Thread Tools | Search this Thread | | | |
