I need a string with no/low finger noise and nice twang

I’m about to buy a short scale bass (an SX (Essex) ¾ scale P copy that I’ll fit with a Bill Lawrence P-45 and upgraded electronics - so few lefty short scales around).

I’m looking for strings with low or no finger noise/squeal but with good twang. As an example of the tone I’m looking for, please see around 1’45” in this clip by Glenn Campbell. I’m guessing this is a Fender Bass VI, probably strung with flats?? If I’m right, then it’s clear that flats *can* twang, perhaps with not as much brightness as a roundwound. I’m happy to go roundwound if I can get a twangin’ string with no to low squeal.

Any advice will be appreciated. Cheers.

Try Elixirs. Nice round wound sound with little finger noise, and long life.

Gio, thanks for the advice.

I should mention, I prefer a medium/high tension string.

They are at least medium tension. Maybe it is listed on their site?

Try some Pressure Wounds / Compression Wounds... They do not have the finger noise / sliding noise like regular roundwounds. They are not coated.

If finger noise is what your concern with I would try looking into ground or pressure/compression wounds like slapinfunk suggested if you haven't tried them yet. If Im correct the coating on most coated stings wear of in time with continuous play

My only experience with flats is Fender 9050CLs and I'm really surprised by how much sparkle they have.
