I think I like flats!

I tried an experiment today. Took the flatwounds off my POS Squier defret. They were from a pack I found when we moved out of our old jam room.

Put 'em on my beefed up SX P/J and I really liked how they sounded and played. Smooth, fast, and they really growled.

I'm thinking about putting them on my Ric. Never been anything but a roundwound player before this.

A question, if anyone knows. These flats are so old I have no idea what they are. They have blue felt on the ends and coloured balls (red, black, and green (missing one string)). If anyone knows what kind they are that would rock!

D'addario chromes, I'd say.

I'll also presume is the E string thats missing.

D'Addario is the company with colored ball ends, so yes, the Chromes.

Thanks guys.

Looks like I have it strung up with the A string for the E, the D for the A., etc (still have the old roundwound G on).

Is it wrong that I like that?!

Not at all. Les Claypool does something like that.

Tuning ADGC instead of EADG is called tuning Tenor.

I should try that.

Right now it's still tuned EADG though. Just using the smaller strings.
