as you can see i currently use rotosound swing bass 66 steels.

i use 45-105 guage.

but the problems i've found is i'm not able to play that fast on the strings and they are quite 'grippy' and i get alot of finger noises.

so i'm looking for quite a bright string.

i need them to last as long as possible as i cant afford to get strings that often.

any ideas for make/type/guages that you could give me?

or do you need more info? feel free to ask me more questions.

Thanks.

I like the D'Addario Pro Steels. Rotosounds are inconsistant.
The Pro Steels have worked out great for me in both sound and life! IMHO

Gauges usually depend(IMO) on:
1) HOW you like the feel of the bass
2) How the pickups "react" to more or less metal in the gauges

Going from your gauges to 40-100's worked fine on most of the basses here(faster, easier to play, last as long between changes). A couple of basses got REAL upset(i.e. the E-string was super-loud compared to the rest of the set) but that may be Roto's "consistancy" inconsistancy. The avatar was one of those that demanded to keep heavier gauge strings.
