| | | | Ibanez basses - do they come stock with Elixirs?

Do Ibanez basses come stock with Elixir strings? I just bought an SR500, and although I like the feel of the strings and they feel very smooth, I cannot feel or tell if they are coated or not. Then again, I have never tried their Nanoweb stuff, so I wouldn't know what they feel/look like.
I know it's possible the strings are not stock on it, but the stringing job does look very clean, uniform, and factory like, so I'd assume they are the stock strings.
So again, I'm just wondering if these strings are Elixirs I got on there. Thanks. |

The strings are probably from China, Inc. They're ok. |

That depends entirely on how you play.
Personoally I've only ever had Elixir start to have their coating show evenly across the strings and after a few months of playing. |

| | | | As far as I know that is normal for SR500 series I have one and it came with the Elixirs.

I couldn't tell in the store. didn't occur to me until I read it somewhere. Is there any giveaway to tell for sure if they are Elixirs? I know on Polywebs you can see where the coating ends down by the ball end, not sure if this is as noticeable with Nanowebs.
Polywebs also look very 'white' in color because of the coating, but Nanowebs are much more transparent. |

Do the strings have colored ball ends?
Look very carefully at the strings right up by the tuners. If they are a coated string, you can probably barely see the coating on the strings where they are coiled. Hold the headstock up to a light. |

I'll definitely check them out a little closer this afternoon up by the headstock to see if I can see the coating. |

| | | | Last summer I bought an Ibanez SR506L. It came with stock elixers. I must say though, I hated those strings. After a week I decided to change them. They were way too bright for my taste, but I loved that I was able to slide incredibly easy up and down the neck. Also, in 2007 I bought an Ibanez GSR200FML, but it did not come with Elixers. I actually forgot what type of strings they came with. Reason I add this is to show that not all Ibanez basses come with Elixers, at least not in 2007, but times may have changed.

| | | | I recently asked an employee at a local Sam Ash what they come with, but he just said that Ibanez basses come with Ibanez's 'standard Factory strings' or something of the sort, but then I realized that that could still mean they string them at the facrtory with a specific brand....
I don't know. Anyways, I bought my SR506 on x-mas of '06, and it had elixers on then. Not sure if they are now, though. I played a 506 at Sam Ash recently and I would say the strings felt similar to elixers, but I can't be certain. I havn't used elixers in awhile. Either way, they felt great; better than most strings (to me, at least). |

Yes, new Ibanez's (Ibini?) come with Elixers. They're great and so is my SR-506. |
