I believe they're usually shipped with Elixirs. No idea what gauge though. Maybe someone else knows.

The lower end SoundGears come with D'Addario XL Regular Lights (45-100), the higher end ones I think come with Elixers. Not sure which model is the cutoff, though.

And yeah, the factory setup is great.

Thanks guys... im thinking elixir because I use Daddario on pretty much everything I own and these dont feel like a set of XL's.

While we're on the topic of this bass does anybody have a good suggestion for upgrading the MK1 Preamp?

In the Ibanez owners manual it says .130. Not to nitpick or anything. And yes they are Elixirs. I had the same bass as you.

I couldn't find them for sale either so I guess they are not commercially available.

You might try e-mailing D'Addario.

That's how I found out what gauge strings came stock on my bass.

thanks griff. yea i cant find these anywhere. it seems elixir doesnt even make a 6 string set. the only option at juststrings.com is to buy a 5 string set and add a C.

I just happened to buy a new SR 505 last night and was told the strings on it were D'Addario EXP170-5's.

An answer to my email to D'Addario this morning confirmed it.

that's odd, most 500 series SR's I've played had elixirs on them in the store, how strange.

My 905 came with elixirs though, I string EADGC and use the .032 C string perhaps the .030 is a typo? if you have a set of digital calipers just measure it.

I'm pretty sure that my SR505 came from the store with Elixirs on it. Not sure of the exact sizes though.

I've been using D'addario XL's on my SR406 and like them, I would like to try Elixr's, but I have not gotten around to ordering them.

I did try Warwick Steel and Fodera Steels, and I like the D'addario Nickel better, IMHO.
