| | | | i used GHS boomers and Rotosound for my SR300. I find these strings along with Ernie Ball and occassionally Dean Markley Blue steel, just give the type of string sound I like best. Never had daddario, elixer, or DR on any bass and liked them. There sound just isnt for me. So simply put, try the strings you like best, theres no such thing as a string best suited to a given bass. Its all subjective personal preferance really.

For low to high, G# C# G# C# F#, I use D'addario nickel wound gauges .145, .110, .080, .055, and .040.
With my next order, I'll be going to D'addario pro steels.. Gauges .145, .120, .085, .060, and .040. |

The other criteria you might consider when trying out strings is the style of music you play. |

| | | | I think my new one came from the factory with D'addario standard steel rounds and my used one has Ernie Ball standard ("bright"?) steel rounds. They're both 4-string.
For you other 4-string SR owners - I've stuck with the standard Ibanez gauges .045-.065-.085-.105 but I'm curious as to whether others have experimented with different sizes. I play with very low action and like the playability fine; I've just never had the time or money to sit down and compare different gauges...
