Ideal flats for a USA JO4

Sign in to disble this ad
Hey folks,

Apologies ahead of time if this has been explored ad nauseum in previous threads. If so, just point me in the right direction.

Anyway, I'm wondering what kind of flats you like on your JO4 and whether you string them through the bridge or body. If you could indicate what scale lengths you use and what type of music you're playing, that would be really helpful too.

If you swear by rounds, I'm also curious about what you use..

Thanks in advance!

Lakland flats or LaBella 760FL. I prefer rounds on my USA JO5, the old labella hard rockin steels with the tapered E were the best, Carvin nickels are good, and I'm about to try some pedulla steels. All three of those sets are basically the same string, for me, that is what works best. They bring out the wood and the growl.
