Ok, I have a feeling this is going to be quite imposible... but I figured I might give it a try.

A couple months back I bought this spector from GC, its awesome, and it also has the best strings ive ever had on a bass! Only problem is, I have no clue what strings they are. The best I can tell you is that they arent flatwounds, and at the top of the strings its has grayish coating, unlike some of the red ones ive seen. Sorry for the bad pic. I can get more if needed.

If it was a new bass when you bought it then i would say that they are spector strings.

The Spector strings I just bought are not wrapped with any silk at all. I'll bet they're aftermarket but have no idea what they are.

Question Ken Smith???

Ken Smith wraps his strings with silk ends...reasonably priced and a decent string. Not sure I have seen the black silk before though.

If those strings are grey at both ends they are Fender 8250's
