The color of the ends, the thread on the end. Flatwounds, roundwounds? Post a picture here. Some of the vets can identify most strings in a snap.

Don't worry about it. Take the old strings off, IMMEDIATELY! Spend some cash and put your brand on it.

Agreed! It doesn't matter what brand comes with a new bass acquisition if you don't like them change them.

Sometimes it's refreshing to try new things. Since it's a used bass, they may well be quality strings that he liked and actually want to buy again in the future ...

just a thought.

Well, I have a picture.....I doubt it will help....hard to capture.

Anyway....
Bronze ends. Standard round doughnut ends.
The other end of the string....no fabric. Just standard string ends. wound all the way up. I saw a wind pattern in the glare of light.....almost like groups of 3 bumps that span about 3/4"....and repeats along the entire length of string. ????

I like the strings, they don't sound bad, look fairly new and have good tension. I think it's a .130-.45 set?

I have a set of DR stainless low riders, but I think I'll hold off.

Looks like they are regular roundwounds, not stainless steels judged by their colour.

-edit- Doh.. Dates again.. Sorry.
