Used them for a couple years on various basses and out of nowhere, the low tension became a bother to me.
Weird.

Maybe Ill fall in love with TIs again down the road. Might just be a matter of winding up with a bass that they "work with".

| | | | Trav, I thought I was the only one. I've had at least one set on a bass for probably 5, 6 years. They sounded OK on my jazz, good on my Stingray, but I hated playing them. I had a set on a 62 RI P bass and hated them . Took them off, replaced them with the crappy Fender strings---complete transformation, I've got one last bass with flats, a 51 RI. But it's EB flats. Now those, I like. |

I have chromes on my P right now, but I have a set of SIT Silencers ordered for it. I agree about the limited dynamics of flats. They just don't have the edge I want on occasion. I play such a wide variety of styles that I need the versatility of rounds.

I initially put a set on my '70 EB-0, and they were (are) a perfect match to the bass. Their pronounced mids sit nicely with the lows of the infamous "mudbucker".
Based on this, I purchased a set for my Squier VM Jazz. Although all the tone that I love from the TI's was there, I couldn't get used to the feel of them on this particular bass. Shame...
Great strings, nonetheless. It was worth giving them a shot either way!

What are you liking now?

Marshall | Marshall,
Im favoring rounds on my StingRay 5 (Super Slinkys) and I have the heavy gauge EB flats on one Sterling and regular Slinkys on the other Sterling.
All three basses sound so thick and rich through my Ampeg rig.

JF's on my 75 RI through the GK & Bag End setup kill's Big time punch and good body. Through the YBA and the 1x15, 2x10 setup, Super Alloy rounds - or GHS Brite flat's seem to maybe be a better match ...
I dig the light feel - at 53 I'm trying to play with a lighter touch and hold the tendon, muscle, arthrits issues at bay - playing with a light touch is supposedly good for that ... time will tell.
