"Indie" flatwound strings - Wow!

I just got SharkUSMC's Douglas six-string bass from the classifieds. I've had a few sixers before, and one of my main basses currently is a Washburn XB-600. I had wanted to try some flats on a six, but I don't want to take off the Circle K's that are on my Washburn. Well, lo and behold, SharkUSMC had put a set of "Indie" flats on this Douglas. Rondo sells them for $24.95 for a set, which qualifies as "cheap" in my book. To be honest, I sort of expected them to be crappy.

They're not. They feel fine, and the B is a revelation. Very deep and full-sounding, and not too boomy. Better, IMO, than the E from a set of Chromes. The E is also very good. I had thought that I might put a set of TI's on this bass (even though they cost $100), but that's not going to happen any time soon, if ever.

Funny, I just got Rondos marketing email blast today and saw the 4 string sets for $14.95. I came here to see if anyone was talking about them. Nothing.

Would love to get some other points of view about the strings given the next cheapest flats on the market cost 50% more.

Anyone?
