Depends what you call inexpensive.

I use D'Addario XL strings, the EXL165 set to be exact. Come in twin packs for $25.

Dont worry the mods will move it.

Those D'Addario's are probably as cheap as you will get for some good strings. I got 10 sets of guitar research bass strings for 9.55$ shipped. So like 90 cents a pack. I dont mind them they do the job and sound good for what i play, if i gig more i will be getting better strings .

+1 on the D'addarios...I always look for the cheapest online price then go to GC and say, I can get them for $XX at whatever the website is...

i'm running Webstrings Detroit Nickles on 3 of my basses. I like them alot. And they are less than $12 a set.

I have played the D'Adarrios but did not like the tension.

Purchased 3 sets of hartke extra lights for 30 bones the other day. I like EB and D'addario strings but someone on this forum recomended them and I thought what the hell....Turns out I like how bright they are.I burn through strings in a big way these days and it will save me a small fortune.

Go to Carvin's website (www.carvin.com) and look at their string selection. Not bad for the price and sound decent.

Flats are for the true bassist-economist.

Even TI Flats, at $50 a set, if they last for 5 years, will be a far better value than any round that needs to be changed a few times per year.
