It's been a while since...

...I had a string go dead before it's time, but It just happened with the E string in a set of D'Addario XL165s (.105 E). It's lacking high end and sustain. The rest sound fine. It really bothers me when this happens...

The customer service folks at D'Addario are quick to help with problems involving thier products. e-mail them and see what they say.

Other than that, you may want to check the pup height. It sounds like it could also be just the occasional bad one that got out.

Thanks for the input. It's the string. It happens, sometimes. It hasn't put me off D'Addario. I've used them for years, and rarely had an issue. I didn't realize I had put them on a month ago. I just found the receipt. It's just disappointing when one string goes and the rest of the set is okay.
