I dont know how i wouldve gone about searching for this solution, so I figured id just ask outright.
On a warwick rockbass corvette, I have DR nickel lo riders medium gauge. They sound GREAT, and I love them.I love their tone for fingerstyle and slap, I love the feel and the gauge, and their tone is flexible and versatile.
However, I have one weird problem that I cant seem to fix. On the E string, I get buzz on one fret, no others. Its on the 6th (A#) fret. Whenever I slap it just buzzes, and its starting to hack me off.
Its not the action, it does this whether I put the bridge saddles right up or right down, and anywhere in between. Its not the relief, this bass is pretty new, and the strings haven't tightened over time at all, and I've tested the relief, and other than this one problem it's perfect.
Anyone have some light to shed on this matter? I've racked my brains of bass knowledge, and I can't think of anything else it could be, its a mystery to me.It could be my technique, I'm not the world's most accomplished slap bassist, but I can slap any other fret on the entire neck as hard as I want and it doesn't rattle like this. Thanks in advance for any pointers.
