I LOVE LaBella 0760M "Jamerson" strings. I like the tone and the tension. I like everything about the strings but I have become very upset with their Customer Service.
In May I ordered a set of 0760M5 that had a B string that was made wrong ($70.00) , A set of 0760FM-M medium scale with a E string that was for a short scale ($47.00) and 2 sets of 0760M and had the loop pull out of the G string on the ball. It didn't break the end pulled out of the winding while I was tuning up (it made it to F when it let go) ($55.00 a set)
So I have one good set out of four. That is $235.00 with shipping for one set of strings. I like spending money on gear but that is just to much to pay for a set of strings.
I called them right away after I received them and spoke with a very nice and helpful gentleman that said he would send me out replacements right away.
Well 3 weeks later I get a B string that was still wrong (worse than the first one) and one more short scale E string and no G string replacement.
I called and spoke again with the very friendly and helpful guy, he apologized for the mix up and said he will get the proper strings out right away.
Sense then I have spoke with the same nice guy every two weeks and he promises me he will get them right out.
I have used Chromes a lot and have them on the basses that I had intended on using the Labella's .
In the past I have tried Rotosound 77 Jazz but had problems with them going dead for no reason. (plenty of threads here about it)
They always had a new set in my hands in a few days.
Is there a string out there that comes close to the Labella's that I do not know about? I like Chromes but they just are not the same.

Go for the Fender flats, they are cheap and good. |

Both times they were LaBella Flats - one was an E string and one was a G string. That was enough to turn me off of LaBella for good. The quality control seems suspect. |

They're a bit brighter than the LaBellas, but you still get a very nice thumpy old school sound out of them.
GHS flats also have a similar old school sound to them, and are a heck of a deal, too. |

Sadowsky strings are made by LaBella but they're a different recipe than your typical LaBellas. I've talked to Sadowsky's CS and they're second to none. They care just as much about their strings as their basses. Anything with their name on it will get their attention if you're not satisfied.

They are superb at replacing the bad string(s), but its still kind of a pain. LaBella certainly has its QC issues, that's for sure.
I'm also not sure if the Sads are the OP's thing either. The Jamersons are super high tension and thumpy, I don't think the Sads fit that bill very well.

I order my flats direct from Sadowsky and they were out of stock for awhile, so the current batch is probably a fresh run.
I've never had a bum string but I'm sure it happens...from everything I've heard Sadowsky has excellent CS.

I like the .052-.110 size and like the high tension. I have heavy fingers and a hard pick.
