Have you tried Sunbeams? They kill on fretless.

I always use hi-beams. They really sound good and last a few months at least before sounding "old"

I haven't tried either the Hi-Beams or the Sunbeams, but I play a set of DR Fat Beams on my fretless, and they feel as well as sound great.

From what I've gathered about the other two models, the Fat Beams probably have more brightness than the Sunbeams, but more low mids (as opposed to high mids) than the Hi-Beams. Whatever. I'd guess that they all work very nicely for fretless.

Love the Hi Beams on my fretless basses. Growly and loads of punchiness, very responsive to "picking" attack. Can't say I have the same love for them on my fretted basses though.

I find them just a bit too "zingy" for me. I like Fatbeams bettah.

Of the DR's I've tried, I preferred the Sunbeams.

I love HI beams on my fretted basses for sure; I just took off some Dean Markley Alchemy strings on my fretless and put some Roto 77's on so I'm trying them out.

Will these Hi-Beams chew up my rosewood fingerboard on my fretless jazz? I know there are people on either side of the fence about this damage. I'm just thinking about putting rounds on after a year of flats and would like to know whether these are known for being particularly harsh or not. Compared to other SS strings

Also what kind of bass is it that you've put them on and is the fingerboard coated?
