Don't leave it on a stand where it will react to the daily changes in the humidity and temps. If the neck does pull forward, even if it's cased all of the time, try the 760FL set.

It handles it just fine. Changed from 45-100 chromes, only needed to adjust the trussrod slightly. YMMV depending on what strings/gauge you change from.
Also, I don't think any P could not handle these, that's the kind of tension/gauge they were made for in the first place. |

Don't get Jamerson's just because it's the gauges he played with. He was a different animal. You probably couldn't play his bass.
Get the strings that correspond with your favourite gauge. I believe the La Bella flats are all the same except for the gauge (and therefore tension). |

Tried Chromes just have too much zing on em right away, so I want the thumpiest flats, but your right Jamerson's I may not be able to handle but 760FM might be fine or 45-105 GHS flats too I'm more pushing to the 49-109 LABELLAs 760FM's because I want to be close or there to That super thump of jamersons but with a better less tension that I can handle.
Thanks guys

I ordered the 760FM set to replace them and they're much better, although when it comes time to replace those I might even plump for the 760FL.
As I discovered, any improvement to the tone of the heavier strings will be cancelled out if you can't play them. Better to buy lighter strings and work up. |

Thanks guys | If you want a lot of thump you should try a foam mute under the strings right up by the bridge. I love my chromes. they are old enough that the super brightness they have right out of the package is gone. Granted I have them on my jazz bass. Though no matter how old my chromes get and no matter what gauge they were the only way I can get what to my ears is thump is to palm mute or use a foam mute. |
