I'm setting up my '74 Fender Jazz Bass for a certain project where I'd like the bass to sound "angry".
This will mostly be tuned to Drop-D, so the strings must have a fair amount of tension.
I currently have a setup with Sadowky blue labels NPS, Mediums, and have already tried on this bass in the past DR Marcus Miller Fatbeams, and Low Riders (NPS)
Since I have these at home already that I've removed from other basses, I plan on trying Sadowsky Flats (Black Label), and Fender 7250M
Which strings should I consider trying if the above don't fit the bill?
Tension must be fair, not too sparkly or clanky, but have a lively edge with low-low-mid emphasis.
Thanks for any suggestions you can add

I've never used that brand. What color are the silks? (just curious)

The rotosounds suggestion is also a good one, in fact for me those DR's are what I wanted the Rotosounds to be. Longer life, same great sound but easier on the frets and fingers.
Great low-end with a low-mid punch, agressive being the first word that comes to mind to describe them. The tension is on the high side though, if you can live with that. |

Thanks for the suggestions. I'll try the Rotos on another bass, but for now... I'm happy with this one!

How can silks - which are nowhere near the wiggling part of the string make any difference?
My wife teased her hair once and made it VERY angry! |
