What kind of string do you have on your Fender or a copy jazz bass? Also please tell me how they effect the sound and action.

My 61 alder rosewood wears TI flats on frets that sit at the fret board level.

My Sadowsky JJ alder rosewood RV5 wears TI Superalloys. Prior to that is was La Bella Hard Rockin' Steels. Both sounded great.

9050M fender flats on MIM JB. strings yield great bottom, thump. VERY high tension (i don't like flop). as has been stated on TB, they seem to play better setup a tad high.
i've found the thump, sound and feel i been lookin for.

D'Addario XL's ... very even tone across the strings, capable of producing fairly deep tones or very bright tones depending on EQ settings. Not the best strings for pure fingerstyle but if you mix it up between pick/slap/fingerstyle they're pretty good, and they yield a killer slap tone. Tension-wise they're fairly high tension compared to other strings I used to use(Ernie Ball, Fender 8250/7250/pure nickel), but that helps if you like to dig in. If you like bends and vibrato like me though it'll take a bit of strength to do it precisely. So in general, good even strings for a great price tag, not the best but pretty good.
