I'd recommend Ken Smith roundwounds. Any of them, lol. I've never had a string brand besides Ken Smith's that could so drastically altered my tone (as much as strings can anyway). I was originally not so thrilled with my Spector Euro 6LX when I got it. It had a dead pair of EB Super Slinkies and the sounded so stale and metallic. I decided to buy a used set of Ken Smith strings from the TB classifieds and they made the bass amazing lol. All of a sudden my Spector's was growly and full with a thick low end and enough bite to cut through any mix. My only 2 basses both have Ken Smiths now and I love the tone I get from them. I play for my schools jazz band, various church bands, and jam on funk, rock, metal and whatever else under the sun in my spare time and they fit perfectly for all.
The problem I have with a lot of other brands is that I like to dig in a lot when I play and EB Super Slinkies, GHS, and D'addario's always sounded super-trebley and brittle. I'd cut straight through the mix but it would sound out of place and frankly, bad. With the Smith's, the more I dig in the more growl I get but I don't lose the low end that keeps my bass sounding bassy

.
Even know I don't even know what exact line nor gauge of Ken Smiths on either bass but they sound amazing. The only downside for some is that you may have to raise your action a bit because they tend to create a little more buzz than other strings. That's not to say their low tension (super easy to bend *coughsuperslinkies*) its just the way they vibrate i guess. I suggest finding them used if you can but new is just as good if not better and obviously last longer, but I'm cheap, lol. You can find some nice deals on eBay but here's where I would shop if I ever decided to buy new

I think I said this before but I can only speak for the roundwounds (Burners, Custom, and Master series and Taper Cores). Everything else, I assume sound awesome but I'm pretty sure I haven't used them.
