Looking at buying one of these for my roots rock band. The website names D'Addario and Rotosound as string options but the rounds and flats from both brands are too bright sounding for me. I'm looking for a deep thumpy sound in a tapered short scale string - any suggestions?

i use GHS Brite Flats and Pressurewounds on mine.

I second what donk said. GHS makes both sets in 30 inch short scale as well. You also might try D'Addario Chromes in short scale.
