JO5 any string recommendations? Newbie flatwounder!

Sign in to disble this ad
Hi guys, need some help! Just bought a used Lakland JO5 and have fitted an Audere preamp (brilliant by the way!).

I've never used Flatwounds - every player I know this side of the Pond uses Rounds, but my JO5 came with a set of JO flats and I really like the sound. However, the 5th string seems dead in comparison to the other 4.

I might just buy a replacement single B string but I really would like to get the most out of the bass and a really nice new set of flats is appealing. I've been reading posts re. Chromes and Tis but any recommendations from JO owners would be really appreciated, and I definitely need a growl from the B string!

Thanks, Rod.

I really like D'Addario 5-string flats. The B is 132 and it's got plenty of growl.

I've tried a bunch of different flats. Chromes I really liked, infact had them on the bass for 2 years.

Recently tried the TI flats and now theyve taken the chromes place. thats how much I like them.
