Just discovered elixers

I play in a jazz band with a p bass strung up with flats. Recently the bass player for the other jazz band started letting me use his jazz bass strung with elixers. ....Whoahoaohaohaohh. I've never felt rounds so smooth! Its an absolute joy playing his bass. I want my own set but they are somewhat expensive. Are there other rounds like this that I've been missing out on, or is the "nanoweb technology" exclusive to elixers? Or are there smoother/silkier roundwounds you guys like better?

For the record, I absolutely love Elixer strings. I hear Cleartones are pretty awesome, but they don't make a six string set so I wouldn't know.

Anything with a coating either on or "in" the string is going to cost you a pretty penny. Your best bet is to shop around (I've found Elixers for $35 + $5 shipping on the Bay) or buy in bulk from your local music store (if they are inclined to give you discounts for such things).

They have the nylon wrapped strings. I know Fender sells them. They sound good and last forever but don't have nearly enough tension for my taste. I'm a LaBella kinda guy though.

In addition to my Fender Jazz which has T - strings, I have an Ibanez SR505 5 string. It came with Elixers. They are really smooth and play great. If you are a pick player the coating may tend to come off quicker. Great strings but mucho $$$$$

Elixirs are the bomb!!! My Schecter Custom 4 came with Elixir Nanowebs standard and they lasted over 1 year before fading!!! I use them on my Warwick Thumb 5 BO and, so far, they are the best strings for this bass!!!
