Just had a fairly big scare with my new Roto Flats

So I'm defretting my Bass today and I need some new Flats, which I have just bought. The guy sold me Long Scale strings which I needed to cut down so that it would fit fine on the Tuning Peg so I got the Wire Cutters and cut the new strings down to the length the previous ones were at.

But just after I cut the A String down to size I noticed the string I was comparing it to was rather thin and I noticed I was comparing the A to the G! My initial reaction was F*CK!! as the G String Tuning peg is closer to the nut than the A, signifcantly.

The A String was only just long enough to be able to install into the D Tuning Peg so now...

A Tuning Peg = D String
D Tuning Peg = A String, with only 3/4 of a turn with the string wrapped around the tuning peg!

The strings will be fine though won't they? They cross over but don't touch (just) and the 3/4 of a turn of the string around the tuning peg won't affect it very much will it? I assume it may be prone to just coming out at anytime?

It may overstress the nut. Those are cool strings, btw.

I totally had that happen to me. But instead of swapping pegs I just got creative with the rest of that string and some knotting skills... -twitch-
