And the low b sounds off kilter. I can't quite explain it, but the notes sound unclear. The string is a .125, same as the stock slinky, which rung loud and clear. Wondering if it could be a bad string. Or maybe breakin issue? It's not floppy.

Let it break in for a few days. It may settle in.

I love DR four string sets. That said, I have not been happy in general with DRs 5 string sets with the .125 B strings. They sound to me, Hollow, or as you say, unclear. I have had better luck with .130s from Ernie Ball or D'Addario.

It seems ridiculous that .005 would make any difference at all, but it seems to. At least, to my ears, which may or may not be reliable.

Definately let it break in for a few days.... Although, i use sunbeams with 125. B and i've never had that issue..... yet. I wonder if the "offkilter" sound your hearing could be the pup heighth? That HAS been an issue..... I was using Roto nickels for awhile and when i made the switch to the sunbeams my B string had a funny "warble" kickin. Lowered the pup a hair and the warble disappeared. Hope you figure it out. DR sells a heavier gauge sunbeam set too.... 130.B i think.
