Hey All,
I am recently converted bass player from the guitar world. My current basses are a 2007 MIA Fender Jazz Standard w/ Fender Custom 60's pu's and a 2008 MIA Fender Jazz Standard V stock. I play a full range of styles from Rage to Buffet and everything in between. I went out today to buy new strings and ended up with Rotosounds RN 66LD for the four string (by mistake) and RS 665LD for the fiver. I am wanting to keep the same strings between the two basses. So, I have already missed that today!!! After I have done some reading through the string threads both here and other places, I keep hearing about how Roto's eat your frets. I cannot find anywhere how fast this occurs. I am sure it is relevant to the amount I play, but as someone new to this, it does not sound that great. I am looking for some advice on what to string up with. I like the gauge - 45-105 and 45-135. I am not sure on the Nickel vs Steel question. I guess I am looking for the sets that are an all arounder. Thoughts? Thanks. |
