Juststrings and international shipping

Sign in to disble this ad
I desperately need some new strings for my bass(es), but am having difficulty justifying paying the prices for them here.

To buy one set of strings locally, I pay maybe $5 less than it would cost to buy them from juststrings.com.

But to buy multiple sets I can make significant savings having them shipped in as the shipping costs the same.

My test data was DR Hi-Beams .100 to .45. One set = $60AUD here or $65AUD shipped from Juststrings. So 3 sets costs $180AUD locally but only $119AUD from Juststrings!!

Plus the choice is amazing compared to what is locally available, so I would be more open to trying multiple brands out.

Could anyone share their experiences with juststrings.com before I put my hard earned up for it.

Thanks.

I'm in Canada and I've not purchased a single set in store since buying my first set from juststring.com

Highly recommended!

I just used them for the 1rst time. I ordered a set of Hi-beams for my Cirrus on Wednesday and had them by Friday. Prices after shipping would have been about the same as my local stores but the only 6-string DR's any of them carry are Long Necks which I'm not a fan of. I'll use them again for sure.

I have bought from juststrings.com on several occasions too and have never had a problem. Come to think of it, I've exclusively bought from them for the last couple of years or so with the exception of Dingwall strings, which they don't carry.

IMHO, you can't go wrong with JustStrings.com. I've purchased all my strings from them exclusively for the past several years, and have never had a bad experience. The product selection is outstanding, the prices are reasonable, the shipping is very prompt, and the customer service is highly responsive.

AFAIK, they have a fine reputation, and they've earned it. Thumbs up!

After reading tons of good stories about juststrings.com I decided to price some custom gauge strings for my low tuned basses. I was looking specifically for a .115 DR Lo-Rider string. JustStrings quoted me at something like $13 per string. A little ridiculous. I was able to order them from my local Ma&Pa store for $8 per string. I guess it doesn't work out for everyone.

I've used JustStrings twice, and I've used Mike's Chop Shop a few times too when I want warwick strings and certain DR lines that JustStrings don't carry. I'm aussie and I like both these places a great deal.

Juststrings is the ONLY place i go for strings. They carry my brand, my gauge, wich is impossible to find locally. Always quick to respond to any questions via e-mail. If for some reason an item is backordered i've never had to wait longer than two or three days.... fast shipping.

In all fairness, I've never done a careful store-by-store comparison of price at Just Strings vs. my local bricks 'n' mortar shop, although the prices certainly seem at least comparable to regular retail. What I will state is that because Just Strings is an online store, they're able to carry a breadth of inventory that virtually no bricks 'n' mortar store can match.

I live in New York City, where a number of well-known and successful music product retailers exist - including those on 48th Street, such as Sam Ash and Rudy's Music. There are many makes and models of string that simply never show up at any of those stores. So if you really want that special, esoteric set of strings that just don't happen to be named GHS or D'Addario, where else can you go?

The main competitive advantage of Just Strings continues to be the vast inventory. And they've compensated as much as possible on their main disadvantage vis-a-vis the bricks 'n' mortar stores - immediacy of delivery and customer service - by shipping same day and by bending over backwards to respond to customer need. There will be exceptions in specific cases - such as the experience of lowendgenerator - but in my experience, Just Strings provides a superior purchasing option.

Have you tried seeing if your local shop can give you a better deal on bulk strings? Most places you can talk a bit of a discount in there.

Thanks for the insight guys. Most places will give me a standard 10% "good customer" discount regardless of the number of sets I buy, but to be honest I only asked at 3 shops.

In desperation I bought a set of Warwick .100 to .45's today for $53AUD. Black packaging with a bit of blue on the box...They're "ML's" whatever that means (I'm guessing Medium Long haha).

Hopefully they suit my tastes and last me a while. I'll probably try cleaning the Prosteels coming off my ESP using the denatured alcohol method too.
