In all fairness, I've never done a careful store-by-store comparison of price at Just Strings vs. my local bricks 'n' mortar shop, although the prices certainly seem at least comparable to regular retail. What I will state is that because Just Strings is an online store, they're able to carry a breadth of inventory that virtually no bricks 'n' mortar store can match.
I live in New York City, where a number of well-known and successful music product retailers exist - including those on 48th Street, such as Sam Ash and Rudy's Music. There are many makes and models of string that simply
never show up at
any of those stores. So if you really want that special, esoteric set of strings that just don't happen to be named GHS or D'Addario, where else can you go?
The main competitive advantage of Just Strings continues to be the vast inventory. And they've compensated as much as possible on their main disadvantage vis-a-vis the bricks 'n' mortar stores - immediacy of delivery and customer service - by shipping same day and by bending over backwards to respond to customer need. There will be exceptions in specific cases - such as the experience of lowendgenerator - but in my experience, Just Strings provides a superior purchasing option.
