Keeping strings fresh

Short of the boiling in water or soaking in denature alcohol, is there a daily maintenance that doesn't involve removing strings to keep rotos or other rounds from dying to quick? I read that someone uses Fast Fret.

Before going to string cleaners/conditioners, try to wash your hands before playing, and wiping strings with a clean, cotton cloth after that. IME, this prolongs the life of rounds by about 30%. It depends on your body chemistry and playing style though.
