Ken Smith custom balanced steels - hex or round core?

Does anyone know?

Thinking about getting some of these for my short scale and I would prefer the higher tension that hex core brings.

Thanks in advance for any help....

I believe KS like the majority of rounds outside of DR Hi Beams are hex core.

Thats what I assumed. Just wondered if anyone had any actual experience of using these.

I used a balance set of Rock Masters. They were descent steel rounds that had normal tension.

I played these on my Gibson SG short scale. I liked them a lot. Great feel. Really strong mids. Big Volume. I would not call them high tension -- though certainly not floppy. Great for string bends.

I have since gone back to LaBella flats (760fl) on the SG. Although similar in string gauge, the LaBellas have noticeably more string tension than the Ken Smiths.

Hi guys, I know this is a very old thread. I hope this goes through to someone. I recently posted on another thread reagarding strings/issues with dull strings.

I've tried recently some Nickel Taper Wound Burners, and really liked the feel and tension, though unfortunately the B and E strings felt a little more lifeless than the others, Which I have experienced with many brands.

Have any of you experienced this with the Stainless custom balanced sets?

Thanks in advance!
