Hey guys, I've just switched to Ken Smith slick rounds for my Pbass deluxe, and I love these things!!!

Anyway, I want to try a set of Smiths on my MIM fretless with DiMarzio model J's.

I want something with a little more of the roundwound bite than the slickwounds have. My question is, do you think Compressors, or Burners would be better for fretless? I'm thinking of the Compressors, but I see the nickel Burners also produce a warm kind of sound.

Just like to know what your thoughts are.

Thanks!!

I ordered a set of Compressors in light gauge today from www.juststrings.com

Will give a report after they come in, and I give them a bit of a workout.

BTW, I switched to Ken Smith slick round mediums for my Pbass. IMHO, it's like these strings were made for this bass!

IME, Ken Smith Compressors are just as bright as most nickel roundwounds, but the Burners are even brighter. Also, the Compressors have a little more tension than the Burners. I like both...

thanks for the reply. I just put a set of Smith short scale roundwounds on my son's Bronco bass, because they were the only short scale set the store stocked. These strings are pretty sweet, so I have no doubt that the compressors are gonna be really nice-just like the slick rounds I now use on my Pbass deluxe with Nordstrand P/U's.
