I love DR strings. So I almost cried (okay not really but I was pretty pissed) When a couple weeks ago the .105 E string on my new set of Hi Beams snapped before even getting up to B (and I even tune down to D). I went down to the guitar shop I bought the set at and the salesman basically told me I was SOL. He even went as far to say "if you contact them, they will tell you the same thing so you might as well buy a new set right now"
So......
I sent DR this email:

Subject: Brand new string broken
Hi my name is Dave. I recently bought a set of DR Bass Hi-Beams and while I was putting the new set on my bass the E string didn't even make it up to B and it broke at the tuner. I have been using DRs for a while now I have been playing bass much longer. I know to right angle a cut off end and to tighten slowly so as not to cause unneccesry stress to the string but it just gave out. I assume it had to have been a defective string. I love the sound of DRs but if this is going to be regular occurance than I might have to look elsewhere. Is there anyway you guys can send me a Hi Beam .105 so I don't have to throw away a $40 set of strings?
Thanks in advance
Dave
and got this response.....
Hi Dave,
Sorry to hear this happened to you. Of course we will send out a replacement. All we need is your address and it will go out right away.

And well I'll be damned
